As a Construction Cost Estimator at McKnight International, you will play a crucial role in our project development by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to analyze project specifications, identify potential cost factors, and produce comprehensive estimates. This position requires a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze Project Plans: Review architectural plans, specifications, and other project documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project scope, materials, and labor requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and quantify project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
  • Utilize industry-standard software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Research and gather information on materials, labor rates, and market conditions to ensure accurate cost assessments.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favorable pricing for materials and services.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiate pricing, and make recommendations for contract awards.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates to internal stakeholders, clients, and project teams.
  • Review and assess change orders, provide cost impact assessments, and participate in negotiations with clients or subcontractors.
  • Evaluate potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and propose contingency plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cost estimates, pricing data, and project-related documentation for reference and future analysis.
  • Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle, providing timely adjustments, as necessary.
  • Generate and present cost reports and analyses to management and project teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to construction cost estimation.

Requirements:

  • Professional certification such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and LEED certification processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in construction cost estimating software.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Cost Estimator in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Meticulous with a high level of accuracy in estimating.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation best practices and industry trends.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass all Background Clearances.
