Aviation Project Manager

McKnight International seeks a highly skilled and motivated Aviation Project Manager to join our dynamic aviation construction team in Houston, TX, and Baltimore, MD. The successful candidate will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects while ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Manager will play a key role in maintaining our Aviation client relationships, managing project teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects from conception to completion, driving growth and profitability of the business unit through leadership, new business development, client management, and service delivery.

This role is on-site.

Leadership Scope

As a leader within the Program Controls Group (PCG) for our aviation clients, the main role includes:

  • Take the lead for program deliverables that require cross-functional input.
  • Work to motivate the team by providing clear direction and goals.
  • Assist with weekly team meetings to discuss progress on initiatives and to drive performance.
  • Lead the development and production of regular report(s) – (Periodicity and content to be agreed upon).

Program Scope

The main responsibilities within the program delivery for this role include:

  • Project Planning: Collaborate with the project team to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Develop a detailed project plan, including timelines and resources required.
  • Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and cost-effective solutions. Monitor expenses, report variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation. Proactively address issues that may affect project progress.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain strict quality control procedures to ensure construction projects meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, project stakeholders, and the project team. Provide regular updates and reports on project status to all relevant parties.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all construction projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that project milestones and deadlines are met. Adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, contractors, and support staff. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Problem Solving: Address project-related issues and challenges, making informed decisions to keep the project on track.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of leading controls on programs of $1 billion or greater.
  • Knowledge of multiple contract delivery methods.
  • Displays track record of proven success with schedules, cost control, estimating, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing dashboard reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.
  • Experience in trending, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Experience in establishing and monitoring program baselines and performance metrics.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate project teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements in the construction industry.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE, or AIA) are a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills to oversee multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass all Background Clearances

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in various physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile, and may require walking and standing on irregular and uneven surfaces in an industrial setting.
  • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing protection is required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and architecture. A master’s degree is a plus, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in the management of complex, multi-phase capital programs.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (Required).
