AMTRAK

Project Sunnyside Yard SFC Replacement
McKnight Solution
CPM Scheduling
Total Project Value
$45 Million

The Sunnyside Yard Static Frequency Converter (SFC) station is one of six frequency converter stations that comprise Amtrak's 25 Hz traction power system and is acknowledged as the second oldest SFC station currently in operation. This station is situated within Amtrak's Sunnyside Yard in Queens, New York. Designed in the mid-1990s, it commenced operations in 1998.
McKnight International implemented advanced computer systems to enhance time management and scheduling, contributing to 30% of the preliminary engineering documents and developing a comprehensive design-build (D-B) procurement package. Amtrak intends to utilize this package to solicit a D-B contractor to complete the design, furnishings, installations, testing, and commissioning of all pertinent equipment related to the project.

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority

Project Metro Oversight For The Purple (D-Line) Extension Project
McKnight Solution
Performance Audit
Total Project Value
$3.2 Billion

The project involved the construction of twin bored tunnels, cross-passages, and walkways, along with three underground stations featuring ADA-compliant entrances. The project requires architectural finishes, mechanical and electrical systems, train control, traction power, communications, trackwork, and system tie-ins to the existing Purple Line. A retrieval shaft west of the Wilshire/Western Station is also necessary for tunnel boring machine extraction.
McKnight International conducted a performance audit of the Purple Line Extension project, evaluating Metro's project management practices. Our review focused on tunneling, station development, and system tie-ins; by identifying successes and areas for improvement, we aim to enhance efficiency, transparency, and risk mitigation in future transportation infrastructure projects.

Project On-Call Construction Management (CM) Services For Task Order Consultant Contracts Program
McKnight Solution
Construction Management
Total Project Value
$10 Million

NJ Transit implemented a Task Order Consultant Contracts Program to facilitate on-call Construction Management (CM) services for diverse projects, which included rail stations, maintenance facilities, rail bridges, and infrastructure enhancements. The construction manager may provide project control services such as Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, cost estimation, and auditing on a task-specific basis. McKnight International has been appointed by NJ Transit to deliver these on-call Construction Management services within the framework of the Task Order Consultant Contracts Program. This program is designed to support a wide array of critical infrastructure projects through a flexible, task-based methodology. This approach enables McKnight to offer customized solutions that effectively address the specific requirements of each project while upholding a consistent high standard of service across NJ Transit’s extensive portfolio. The contributions made by McKnight are anticipated to improve the safety, functionality, and longevity of NJ Transit’s rail and infrastructure assets.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)

Project Wayne Junction Station Rehabilitation
McKnight Solution
CPM Scheduling
Total Project Value
$35 Million

The Wayne Junction Station project focuses on restoring key features, including the station building and Germantown Headhouse, while refurbishing passenger tunnels and stairways. Key enhancements included the installation of an audiovisual public announcement system, updated signage, benches, new elevators, and ADA-compliant paths. McKnight International implemented advanced computer systems for time management and developed a detailed master project schedule, effectively sequencing construction to minimize disruptions. McKnight's use of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling has helped SEPTA preserve the historical integrity of Wayne Junction while modernizing the facility for improved efficiency and accessibility. This project showcases McKnight's commitment to high-quality CPM scheduling in complex transit projects.
